Worry Woo Review!

As a mom its hard to find toy or even books that are just right for your kids. As a Mom to 4 kids it makes it even hard to find things that you know you will be able to pass down. It can be a very tough thing to find something that they all can enjoy. So when CCM gave me the opportunity to review the Worry Woo Monster & book, I jumped at it!

How they began: The WorryWoo Monsters, a series by Andi Green, was first seen in a New York City art exhibition in 2001. Originally called The Monsters in My Head, Green wanted to create characters with a story that each embodied an emotion. Using her design and illustration background she built 5 light boxes, 24”X36” in size, each containing a monster with its story Xerox-transferred to the front of the box. From loneliness to confusion, she began tackling complicated feelings and transformed them into quirky, loveable characters. Her message of “embrace your emotions” received such a positive response, she was asked by many if she ever considered turning her single art pieces into storybooks. In 2002 she began to expand her concept, but it wasn’t until 2007 that she decided to publish and produce her new collection.

So, I sat down with my daughter Kiley & we looked at the site to pick out just the right Worry Woo for our family. We decided that little Squeek would be the perfect fit for us. Kiley loved that her and Squeek share something in common, they were both the pip- “squeek's” of the bunch. I will never forget the look on Kiley's face as she saw Squeek for the first time, all she could say is "mommy, you found my friend". She Immediately sat down & started to play with Squeek, which she later re-named Pinky. Squeek goes everywhere with us, he has even gone on vacation with us. I have never seen Kiley so attached to a stuffed animal before, it was like she just knew it was meant to bring her comfort.

Not only is the animal adorable, but the book..oh the book even it is just as amazing. Each monster comes with its own book, that helps you to understand the monster. Squeek's book is The Monster in the Bubble and it has become a bedtime favorite in my house. We all sit together and read the book and take turn holding Squeek, the kids like to give there own interpretation of the meaning of the story. The older boys will even apply it to issues that might be going on in there own class rooms at school. What makes it even better is that my older son Josh who is in First grade can read it and understand the meaning behind the story. The book has gone with Josh to school and now I have other parents asking where they can get it. The rest of the Worry Woos Monster collection has even made its way on to my kids Christmas list.

I was in love with the entire concept of these adorable little monsters and how much they had to offer not just my kids but everyone's children. Being a parent we all know that kids have a hard time learning what emotions are and how to handle them. There is so much going on in the world these days that its nice to have a cute tool to help explain it to them. I’ve honestly never heard them before and am happy to finally have something like this rave about – they must be doing something right!

Summer is ending!!!

Summer is coming to an end in just 15 more days! Aaron & Joshua will be headed back to school, Kiley will start home school pre-school with mommy & Caleb will be learning right along.

We have had a very interesting summer yet again. Lots of swimming at Bachi & G-Pops, cook outs with Friends & family, family weddings & getting to spend lots of family time together.

But we are all very happy that school is starting back up, we are looking forward to another great school year.
